Central Library’s Crime Reading Group met on May 3rd  to discuss Murder in Shakespeare. The group was led by local  thespian Jennifer Smethurst and had a lively discussion on how the motives behind many Shakespearian murders are still very relevant today both in today’s world and today’s crime fiction. For example, jealousy in Othello, revenge and also court drama in Merchant of Venice, political murder in Julius Caesar, Richard III; early serial killer (!) 12 members of the group enjoyed a lively discussion and were surprised as to how relevant Shakespeare still is to 21st century life.
